Welcome to Milford on Sea Dementia Action 2019
What does the Dementia Action Group do?
We support a "Dementia Friendly Community" in Milford on Sea and the surrounding area. That’s a community where people with dementia can live as independently as possible because they feel welcomed and secure. To do this we offer awareness sessions for families, groups of individuals, organisations, and businesses. We produce publicity about all the activities and services that are available for people with dementia in the area.
We also fund raise to help provide specialist activities. Milford on Sea has four village groups: art, music and reminiscence and a monthly activity group, all held in the Milford on Sea Community Centre. The Action Group provide the funding for the Reminiscence and Activity Groups, and will soon take over the Music Group too. All four groups are highly successful. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteers support each group. They are a vital resource for people living with dementia, and also for families and carers who benefit from the regular contact with other people supporting their loved ones. A new group called Cognitive Stimulation Therapy, run by Memoryworks is starting in July. See the Activities and Groups page for more information.
